1.20.16 - CSA (Complete Selection Animation) Digivice unboxing and comparison

So, before I share this with you, let me say this half-review is late because my local postal carrier service is so messed up since December. TLDR; It's been sitting in my apartment's office for two weeks with no notification/having picked up other packages. ;__;

A quick note for the videos in this post. If you use Firefox like me you may not be able to view them. Switch to Chrome~

Now, here's how it looks once I opened my package from DenDenHobby~

The strap I traded to a friend, so I'm not opening it. There's a stock photo of what it looks like:

Now, the unboxing. I've heard the box was very nice and it is. I'm not big on packaging but it has almost a matte (>.>;) finish. The box includes a post card (which I'm considering selling/trading at this time).

Now for the videos:
This first video covers the Digivice activating (when you switch it to ON).

Gabumon voice clip. It plays when you select him with the left button:

This video covers all of Gabumon's sayings. I've listed the translations below. It also covers Gabumon evolving to Garurumon and part of Butterfly ~Tri. Version~. I'm not a huge fan of this version (my favorite is the ultra long 15th version). Let me say, you can really hear the seiyuu in these. It's really nice. Go Mayumi~ You're an amazing lady!
Sayings:
Yamato.
Petit Fire!
No matter what happens, I'm with you.
Let me hear you play your harmonica again.
KNIFE OF DAY? I love your music!

Gabumon to WereGarurumon. The colors really are amazing. I was under the impression they weren't that great, but they look better in person:

MetalGarurumon quite possibly being my favorite Digimon... here's his clip, too! The Digivice cycles through all the colors for warping. It's not just limited to Agumon and Gabumon, either. All the rookies have their megas (ultimates;JP) in this version, which is obvious considering they are in Tri:

The last clip is if you leave the Digivice idle long enough. Gabumon says, "Welcome back, Yamato." *feels*

Here's a bit of comparison on the size / detail to the original Digivice (Yamato color). I would compare it to the 15th, but mine is MIB and I'd rather not open it yet; plus there's not much difference between the originals and the 15th. As you can see the CSA has a bit more detail and is a bit bigger. They also run on different batteries. (The CSA runs on 2 AAAs).

Speaking of which, my remote was temporarily sacrificed for Digimon greatness:
Other notes about the CSA Digivice:
I love the look overall. It's a bit heftier than the 15th Anniversary edition. The inside, when it lights up during evolution, appears to light up some kind of inner mirror system where the Tri. evolution letters are engraved. The buttons are plastic (the original Japanese Digivice has rubber ones; unsure about the 15th). The outer part of the center is reflective like a mirror! I didn't expect that at all, since I'm used to the V-Pet screens. My only con to this item is that the Chosen/DigiDestined's voices aren't included and that this was aimed towards Tri. fans more than Adventure fans. However, I still reccomend it, especially for cosplay. It's not an item I'll probably keep in my collection as long as the others, but it's a very nice piece!

Easter eggs~ I found this video of me demonstrating the Gabumon Spinning Top toy from cereal boxes and my happy Garurumon on my Pendulum Zero:

1.15.16 - Tri V2 Trailer is out, more exclusive merch on the way, animate shop reminder

The Tri Episode 2 trailer is out. Part 3 is called Confession. Nothing Yamato related, but there is some merchandise news.

From With the Will:
"In the last portion of the video we get our first glimpse of the third Part of tri, now confirmed to be titled "Confession".
Most of the show consisted of fairly standard talk show content with the three VAs being very enthusiastic throughout.
...
In the next Part they presented various Digimon merchandise mostly the same that was already revealed within the last few weeks.
...
The next topic was "hot spring parks" and as it turns out there is an Onsen park in Odaiba and they are doing some special Digimon Adventure tri. themed Event where among other things limited edition merchandise will be sold.
While I didn't catch any definitive confirmation that this is the Onsen Park that will appear in tri. Part 2 it seems very likely.
"

Trailer:

Also, Premium Bandai has some new merchandise up (releasing in March) that features all 8 Chosen / Digimon.

Finally, if you wanted to preorder some of the Animate merch like the can badges, they are now availible to preorder through a deputy.

1.8.16 - Otomedia Feb Issue, FEBRI magazine, and a collection update

Hey all! With Tri. Part 2 approaching, there's lots of stuff out and about!

Can you guys believe it's been an entire year since they started putting out these Otomedia posters? LOL This is a preview of the Valentine's one for this year:
This issue will include more fan-bait interviews, BUT if it's like last year we probably won't get a translation... :/ If anyone is willing to do some small spot translations for me, I have the original issue as well.
Also, you may or may not have heard about FEBRI Magazine's Vol. 32, which features Tri. I'm betting there is some Yamato and Hosoya related stuff, so I picked one up off of Mandarake.

Speaking of Mandarake... this also lead me to finding an insanely good deal. I've purchased from them before but never from their SAHRA Warehouse! Items are Spot-Sale, which means they are in-stock for you. I snagged the Koushiro GEM for a measely $75! Now all I need is Mimi for a complete set :3
I also have another small collection update!
This is one of those acrylic stands (I believe I covered the left image, the signboard keychains, already). They are beautiful and sturdy and I can see why they are trending in Japan!
These are images of a lot of gum wrappers I'm getting from a collector in Turkey. I think my favorite is Gabumon in the car!
Lastly.. it was Hell, but I finally won an auction for the tote bag/towel set! Just a reminder, these are limited to 300 only! I paid around $65 USD via Y!JP Auctions, almost double the retail~ Another reminder that these will be up on Premium Bandai but will sell out quickly. You may want to keep an eye out!

1.2.16 - Happy New Year, NicoNico stream announced

Hey there guys. Happy New Year!

Just wanted to give a quick heads up that Toku Taku still has the Garurumon GEM if you still need to preorder. Otherwise, I would wait for DenDen or Crunchyroll.

Not much news, except there will be a new Tri. related stream coming soon (the 15th, IIRC). I'll post any details when we have them!

Now, some of you may remember the Comiket 89 exclusive tote set. We confirmed the boys bag includes a towel and the girls bag included a scarf. To give you an idea of how much this sucks, only about 300 were made availible per version, per day. My contact was not able to snag me one at the show because they sold out and she went several days. She said that the tote/scarf/girls' version was always availible, though... :/ I have my deputy out looking as well as watching a few auctions. I would expect to pay a hefty price tag for it if you want it, though.

12.25.15 - Merry Xmas, heres some preorder links!

The D-3s and the Garurumon GEM went up for preorder today.

The D-3s are limited to 3000 each but several sites have had them up for order. We finally have pictures of the art cards included with the first press run:

Next up is a list of sites you can preorder the Garurumon GEM. I will update as sites have the item up for order. Keep in mind his retail price is 11232 Yen (roughly $93 USD), so try not to overpay for him if you can (although, if it comes down to it, I wouldn't mind!)

Premium Bandai (need a deputy service, full payment required - $93 USD + any deputy fees)
Bandai Online (full payment required, free registered SAL shipping)
Big in Japan (sold out, full payment required) *Note: This sold out in 5-10 minutes!
Nippon Yasan (sold out, deposit or pay in full)
MyKombini (sold out on 12/26, 50% deposit required)
Figuya (they say it will be up soon, payment due on shipment + reservations are able to be cancelled; also they do not guarantee stock of an item) *They should have the preorder up in a few days!
Toku Taku Toys (availible now, half+shipping or pay in full)
DenDen Hobby (TBA, 20% deposit or pay in full, free shipping)
Crunchyroll (TBA, full payment required)
Anime Island (TBA, 20% deposit or pay in full)

Looking into the following shops as we speak. Will get back to you all asap!

Please keep in mind TBA means I'm expecting these shops to get them (because they've had the angels or Wizarmon):

BigBadToyStore (TBA, payment due on shipment)

AnimeBLVD (TBA, pay in full, free shipping with $50 over)
KirinHobby (TBA, pay in full* or payment due on shipment)
AniMarket (TBA, deposit required)
MHToyShop (TBA, pay in full now or payment due on shipment)
Kolektakon (TBA, pay in deposit, slowly pay off as you go)
Image Anime (TBA, pay in full)

*KirinHobby will let you pay later, but if you pay in full you get priority, which means if they have 100 of an item, you get first dibs, despite when you ordered. I don't recommend ordering here as it seems risky that you won't get one.

Finally, we have an updated picture of the Yamato figurearts zero from JumpFesta:

12.11.15 - Tri. Bromide Lottery Card

While scouring Yahoo Japan Auctions, I found out that there is a set of Tri. related bromide cards. Unfortunately the only card with Yamato also features Sora, but bromide cards are usually nice, oversized cards. It appears these could only be obtained via lottery prize through the Marui Annex (?). I'm not familiar enough with everything to explain what that means, but I assume that it's one of the theatres showing Tri / Tri cafes. It looks like if you purchased 3000 (points? yen?) worth of some kinda card at the shop, you were entered to win them.

Guide to exclusive merch!?

I've made a page attempting to catalogue the exclusive merchandise as of late (for Tri. theatre screenings and the Animate Cafe). Please comment if you find anything inaccurate/missing.

Go check it out here.

11.22.15 - Tri booklet scans

Some scans of the Tri. theatre booklet are on the internet. These two feature Yamato's design and his harmonica prints (they appear identical to the Adventure ones, for obvious reasons). There may be more info in these but it hasn't been translated yet. I ran it through a translator and got the following:

Lists Yamato's name and his seiyuu. The paragraph says stuff we've pretty much seen elsewhere. Yamato's enrolled in the class next to Taichi. Yamato seems cool at first glance and gets straight to the point. He has continued his band activities since junior high. His opinions often clash with Taichi. Yamato is in charge of vocals and bass for the band.
For the harmonica section it reads (more or less): Harmonica: Blues harp fans know from when Yamato was young. Gabumon loves the tone. Yamato plays (well) when he is pensive.

11.20.15 - 320 Tri. screenshots for you Yamato fans~

I've just uploaded all of my screencaptures from Episode 1 of Tri. Please, please don't use these without linking back to my album in some form. These took a long time to capture/upload.

Check them out here~

11.21.15 - Tri, Tri part 2, Smart Edit Mook, AmiAmi, and other stuff

I'm assuming you've all seen Tri. Episode 1? I have to say I am pleasantly happy with it. (I'll post a review down the line, once I've had time to let it sink in. If I had to go off first impressions, I would give it an 8/10) Over the next day or so I'll be updating my About Yamato page with snippets here and there from Tri.

Also, Episode 2 is up for preorder on Amazon.co.jp. The cover is said to feature Mimi, Jyou, and their Mega evolutions, as well as Imperialdramon. This edition also includes a poster like last time, but no image has been shown yet that I'm aware of. Episode 2 will air in Japan in March and be released in April.

The previously discussed mook (magazine book) by Smart Edit shows a bunch of the merchandise associated with Tri. Crunchyroll updated with some better images:

Next up is AmiAmi has the microfiber cloth and clear file mentioned in this post availible for around 500-700 yen each. The chibi can badge sets can also be ordered for 2040 per set.

I'll be updating later today with screenshots and information from Tri! Stay tuned~
PS
A bonus. Screenshot of one of the Digimon cafes:

11.19.15 - Tri airing in the US / New merchandise on P-Bandai

I was having a pretty bad day, but two particular pieces of news made me feel a lot better! First up, the US is getting Tri., subbed, tomorrow (11/20) on Crunchyroll! The service is about $8 a month in the US and it should air subtitled.

Next up is some more merchandise on P-Bandai. Previously discussed logo for Yamato's band (teased as: The listing also references and asks what KOD (Knife of Day) is and mentions you'll have to go to the theater to find it.) Source: WtW

The shirt costs 3780 Yen (about $30 USD). I looked for a preorder window, but there wasn't one listed I could find. The shirt comes in black and white and sizes XS, S, M, L, and XL. Japanese sizes tend to run small, so you may want to get a size up from your normal shirt size.

11.18.15 - More new merch appears on HobbyStock! (And AmiAmi)

Some new merchandise appeared on HobbyStock. It's all for tri (but whose complaining)? Unfortunetly I'm late to the game here. The can badges are listed as "stock is becoming low", basically, but the other 2 items are pre-order, it appears. Also, I'm pretty confident this stuff will show up on sites like AmiAmi (since other items like the stickers and keychains recently appeared!), so maybe patience is a virtue, considering I know most of us Digi-fans are pretty broke! Anyway, onto the merchandise!

Tri Chibi Can Badge Set (See the Digimon set here) God I want this Yamato badge so much. It's too cute! I've only pictured Yamato here, but it's a set of the 8 children.
This one says it is availible for order for 2400 yen. Release date: November

Yamato and Gabumon Microfiber Towel
The other 8 children are availible. Product is listed for Reservations for 648 yen. Release date: January

Yamato and Gabumon Clear File
The other 8 children are availible. Product is listed for Reservations for 648 yen. Release date: January

Also, a tiny side note, but the Crest Metal Charms are up for preorder on Toei's shop. They ship in March.

EDIT: The previously announced pouches are on AmiAmi!

Gabumon Pouch - 2140 Yen
Gabumon Smartphone Cover - 3170 Yen
Gabumon IC Card Case - 1360 Yen

As always guys, I'll keep you up to date on any Yamato info. Please check back!

11.11.16 - Some new screenshots, posters, and more exclusives!

Alrighty, a lot of news these past few days yall.

First up are some more exclusives! These are exclusively at the Animate Cafe in Japan, but considering it's Animate, they may release leftovers in their online shop as web-exclusives. You know me, I'll update once we know anything! FYI, the items are more can badges, keychains, and a clear file.

Next up is a long list in the line of posters (and man, I'm lagging behind so hard on these releases.. I gotta catch up).

Animedia (interesting note, Yamato's cooking skills are still canon)

Otomedia (yep, seems like a staple now. Maybe I should import a subscription lol) Also, my favorite thing about this one; Yamato and Takeru's scarves match.

Newtype (no better scan as of yet, this was or only shot of Yamato's new band until...)

Things important to note are that Yamato's bass appears the same model, IMO, when I previously heard of him using a new model. It could be an animation error, but in the picture with Takeru, the Competion Stripes are missing. Also, we finally see Yamato's new band members. No names ect. as of yet, but he has switched to a drummer and two guitarists in lieu of the keyboardist.

Also to end all this amazingness on an even better note, NicoNico is doing another stream the day before the blu-ray launch and will reveal info on Tri Episode 2!

EDIT: I updated my "About Yamato" page with the new tri images/information, including posters. I've also added more about his band for present and past. I'm hoping to complete his "attire" section in the next week!

10.31.15 - Halloween update~ tri Blu-Ray details, Yamato FigureArts Zero, exclusive merchandise previewed!

Okay guys. I'm a bit behind on posting, but the merch announced makes up for it! Let me start with the bad news, even if Yamato wouldn't prefer that. There's some limited/exclusive items first up. As you can see, for a Yama collector, this is gonna take some serious tracking-down. They are limited to the Marui Department Store chain. So, keep on eye out on Y!JP for these...

Pill Case - 800 Yen

Bottle Keychain (Gabumon) - 700 Yen
Tri Can Badges - 400 Yen
Tri Pouch (Gabumon) - 1000 Yen
POP Clear Standee (Tri Yamato Vers) - 1000 Yen
Signboards (Note: There are also a few other ones featuring poster art we've already seen) - 640 Yen
(Note 2, according to WtW, these are the groupings: Group 1 will be- Taichi and Agumon, Sora and Piyomon, Yamato and Gabumon, Mimi and Palmon, along with Poster design A and B.
Group 2 will be- Jou and Gomamon, Koushiro and Tentomon, Takery and Patamon, Hikari and Tailmon, along with Poster design C and D.)

Now to the not-limited:

I'm going to make a note of some tri puzzles which you can buy on AmiAmi. The real kicker is the second one (the one I'm linking to) with the Adventure-based tri art, located here.

Next up are these Digi-Butts, as we've fan-named them. Rubber straps with two ends featuring the Rookies. You can get them at AmiAmi (in a set only). Retail is 5054 Yen.

Next up is the tri blu-ray. I'm only covering the Amazon Exclusive Edition as it has the slipcover and cloth poster with all first pressings. It's around 8000 yen ($70 USD appx.) and will be up for order through very early December. You'll need a deputy service and a way to play Region 2 Blu-Rays. There are no english subtitles.

Can I get to my pride and joy though? This FigureArts Zero figure was announced:

The retail for this line is normally around 2800 yen, but it's unsure if the first pressing only comes with Gabumon or if it will be a little higher for including him, who knows... These are non-posable but pretty detailed. I have a height comparison with the Minato Arisato one from Persona 3 at our Facebook.

That concludes this post! Thanks for reading and good luck collecting!

New crane plush for tri

These were just revealed. They will be coming out in Japan crane games so expect them on Y!JP. These match the previously released Adventure set.

9.14.15 - Tons of merchandise and some Tri. updates

Oh, gosh. So much news as of late! Be prepared for a long post Yamato fans.

First up, let's start with merchandise (considering it's time sensitive).

FINALLY, the DigiFES merchandise was added to Toei's webshop! You've seen my previous posts detailing the Yamato related merchandise: some plastic stands, can badges, and charms. Please note that the can badges are RANDOM buy 1 get 1 randomly, so only order if you like risking your cash. I found one on Y!JP, I'm going to stick it out to find the other. All other Yamato items can be purchases seperately.
You can buy the following items at Toei's Webshop.
No reservation date was given and even as I sent in my order through my deputy, some items were listed as "low stock", so keep in mind these are probably limited stock.

Next up in another web exclusive item. It's not directly Yamato related, but I felt it was worth mentioning. This amazing, large, polyster wall scroll (similar to a poster, but made of cloth), features the "Dragon Eye Lake" scene promotional poster. (I fangirl squealed when they kept the name. This was used in the original Japanese of the series', but to a Western fan it's more of a cool Digimon World reference). But uh, that price tag... Retails for 19940 Yen, around $190 USD.
Even further, we have a new rubber strap set [CharaRIDE]. I ordered mine through AmiAmi for around $40; Toei's Webshop has them also. Most people are saying these are packed in random boxes of 8, but all previous rubber straps were complete sets, so buying is kinda risky. You could always join my Facebook Digimon group (DigimonCollect@Facebook) to trade with others there.

Lastly, we have some tidbits about Tri thanks to the producer of the Tri as well as Taichi's new actor. I've posted the Yamato related ones below. You can read the original translation (by talented Onkei) at these links:
Part 1
Profile Bit: "Ishida Yamato- His love for his friends and his little brother hasn't changed. He still loves music, and he's still earnest about the things that he likes. The proactiveness and matured sides of him that you will chance to see from time to time will have an affect on the story, so please look forward to it."
Other: "On the other hand, Yamato still has the strong sense of justice that he had as a kid, and he’s grown up into the same fierce man who faces the hesitating Taichi and says, “Shouldn’t you be doing it this way?” The changes between the two, or rather, how the two grasp things differently, fits into “Digimon Adventure tri” and made me feel that people don’t always grow up in the same way. That sort of relationship between those two felt nice. "
I'm particularly happy that it seems Yamato and Takeru's relationship will be touched on.

Part 2
More profile: "Ishida Yamato with the Crest of Friendship: 2nd year in high school. He is in the class next door from Taichi and Sora. He forms a new band in high school and plays bass. Of course, he also does vocals."
Question was "If they had a party, who plays which part?": "Ishida Yamato: He’ll be in charge of the live background music with his newly practiced guitar. In the middle, Mimi will join in with the addition of singing and the entertainment heats up! "
Question was "Halloween: What sweet would everyone be?": "Ishida Yamato: I guess this idea is influenced by his French grandfather? Creme brulee. "

Yamato also appears in the new poster for Otomedia this month (as he did last month). Here is the poster and the line art that appears in the this month's issue. Scans credit to DigiPost.
