1.17.16 - Valentine's Poster, February Otomedia Translated

Thanks to Kazarinn from Tumblr, we have a bit of information regarding Yamato from the new Valentine's poster:

Yamato Ishida
Voice: Yoshimasa Hosoya
A second-year at Tsukishima Comprehensive High School. He’s active as the bassist and vocalist of his band. Right now, in regards to the Digimon incidents, there’s been some distance between him and the often indecisive Taichi.
How would Yamato spend Valentine’s Day?
“Feeling sorry for his divorced father, Hiroaki, busy at work, he might make whiskey bonbon as a present for his father. Of course, he’d make some for Takeru and his mother, Natsuko, as well.” (Producer Arai)
How would Yamato receive chocolate?
“It would probably be good to go to the studio where he’s having band practice and give it to him directly. Since he gets a lot of other chocolate, it might give a better, more distinct impression if you look into a CD he might like and give it to him with them.” (Producer Arai)

 Other profiles that mentioned Yamato:

How would Takeru spend Valentine’s Day?
“He’d take a look at the mountain of chocolate he’d receive at school with his brother, and then he’d bring it home and share it with his mother, Natsuko. He and Yamato would be smacking their lips at the homemade chocolate.” (Producer Arai)

How would Sora spend Valentine’s Day?
“She’d make a large amount of handmade chocolate for the Chosen Children and their Digimon. This year it’s absolutely essential for her to make some for the KNIFE OF DAY members, so in order to multiply her efforts she’d work hard with Piyomon to make them.” (Producer Arai)

Here are some details from the February issue of Otomedia:
Ayana (scenario writer): There’s a scene where they go to enjoy themselves at the bathhouse theme park, so we actually went to go location hunting and carefully observed how kids at their age would play around (haha). Taichi and Yamato had quite a bit of discussion between the two of them. Would they get in a fight with their words?
Kakihara (composition): While dragging along their awkward feelings from Part 1, even though everyone’s going off to have fun, we thought about how much distance Taichi and Yamato would have between them during that time.
Motonaga (director): It’s because they haven’t had as much time together since they’re in separate classes.
Ayana: We also decided that Yamato would be the only one in a different class from that discussion. Because there are many fans with a deep love for the characters, we have no intention of being irresponsible about this and disappointing them (haha).

Motonga: Yamato’s absorbed in his band right now, but somehow he’s going to become an astronaut in the future (haha).

If you could please tell everyone how each of the “Chosen Children” would spend their Valentine’s Day…
Motonaga: Yamato would probably be happy eating chocolate that he made for himself.

Also found this on Jippy's tumblr. As you all know, I loathe Sorato, but it has to be included. It's from the 2015 Otomedia December issue:
Christmas Is Coming Soon. What Are We Going To Do This Year? This Is Our Meeting (Otomedia December 2015)

What is Yamato’s Christmas present? Yamato will give Sora blue earmuffs. He might buy earmuffs of a similar colour to the hat Sora used to wear when she was an elementary school student.
What is Sora’s Christmas present? Sora will give Taichi a neck warmer to wear during soccer practice. Sora will give Yamato a pair of hand-knitted gloves, because she wants him to take care of his hands for bass playing.
What is Takeru’s Christmas present? Looking around second-hand record stores, Takeru will try to find an out-of-print record that Yamato has been seeking for a long time, and give it to him.

1.8.16 - Otomedia Feb Issue, FEBRI magazine, and a collection update

Hey all! With Tri. Part 2 approaching, there's lots of stuff out and about!

Can you guys believe it's been an entire year since they started putting out these Otomedia posters? LOL This is a preview of the Valentine's one for this year:
This issue will include more fan-bait interviews, BUT if it's like last year we probably won't get a translation... :/ If anyone is willing to do some small spot translations for me, I have the original issue as well.
Also, you may or may not have heard about FEBRI Magazine's Vol. 32, which features Tri. I'm betting there is some Yamato and Hosoya related stuff, so I picked one up off of Mandarake.

Speaking of Mandarake... this also lead me to finding an insanely good deal. I've purchased from them before but never from their SAHRA Warehouse! Items are Spot-Sale, which means they are in-stock for you. I snagged the Koushiro GEM for a measely $75! Now all I need is Mimi for a complete set :3
I also have another small collection update!
This is one of those acrylic stands (I believe I covered the left image, the signboard keychains, already). They are beautiful and sturdy and I can see why they are trending in Japan!
These are images of a lot of gum wrappers I'm getting from a collector in Turkey. I think my favorite is Gabumon in the car!
Lastly.. it was Hell, but I finally won an auction for the tote bag/towel set! Just a reminder, these are limited to 300 only! I paid around $65 USD via Y!JP Auctions, almost double the retail~ Another reminder that these will be up on Premium Bandai but will sell out quickly. You may want to keep an eye out!

11.16.15 - Yamato's band's name? New book featuring interview and new merchandise

This photo just linked on tumblr. It's some kind of book featuring interviews with the voice actors of Taichi and Yamato, along with some tri. info. Also, there are some bonuses included: new art on a double-sided poster, an agumon pouch, and some stickers.
I had forgotten to mention the Knife of Day logo, since it was shown at the theatre event for tri. I suspected then it was the name of Yamato's band and I'm about 99% certain now. I'm adding this in the tags section in case of future CD/ CD Drama releases.

The book mentioned above is 2000 yen (about $18 USD) and can be ordered here with a deputy service.

11.11.16 - Some new screenshots, posters, and more exclusives!

Alrighty, a lot of news these past few days yall.

First up are some more exclusives! These are exclusively at the Animate Cafe in Japan, but considering it's Animate, they may release leftovers in their online shop as web-exclusives. You know me, I'll update once we know anything! FYI, the items are more can badges, keychains, and a clear file.

Next up is a long list in the line of posters (and man, I'm lagging behind so hard on these releases.. I gotta catch up).

Animedia (interesting note, Yamato's cooking skills are still canon)

Otomedia (yep, seems like a staple now. Maybe I should import a subscription lol) Also, my favorite thing about this one; Yamato and Takeru's scarves match.

Newtype (no better scan as of yet, this was or only shot of Yamato's new band until...)

Things important to note are that Yamato's bass appears the same model, IMO, when I previously heard of him using a new model. It could be an animation error, but in the picture with Takeru, the Competion Stripes are missing. Also, we finally see Yamato's new band members. No names ect. as of yet, but he has switched to a drummer and two guitarists in lieu of the keyboardist.

Also to end all this amazingness on an even better note, NicoNico is doing another stream the day before the blu-ray launch and will reveal info on Tri Episode 2!

EDIT: I updated my "About Yamato" page with the new tri images/information, including posters. I've also added more about his band for present and past. I'm hoping to complete his "attire" section in the next week!

10.31.15 - Halloween update~ tri Blu-Ray details, Yamato FigureArts Zero, exclusive merchandise previewed!

Okay guys. I'm a bit behind on posting, but the merch announced makes up for it! Let me start with the bad news, even if Yamato wouldn't prefer that. There's some limited/exclusive items first up. As you can see, for a Yama collector, this is gonna take some serious tracking-down. They are limited to the Marui Department Store chain. So, keep on eye out on Y!JP for these...

Pill Case - 800 Yen

Bottle Keychain (Gabumon) - 700 Yen
Tri Can Badges - 400 Yen
Tri Pouch (Gabumon) - 1000 Yen
POP Clear Standee (Tri Yamato Vers) - 1000 Yen
Signboards (Note: There are also a few other ones featuring poster art we've already seen) - 640 Yen
(Note 2, according to WtW, these are the groupings: Group 1 will be- Taichi and Agumon, Sora and Piyomon, Yamato and Gabumon, Mimi and Palmon, along with Poster design A and B.
Group 2 will be- Jou and Gomamon, Koushiro and Tentomon, Takery and Patamon, Hikari and Tailmon, along with Poster design C and D.)

Now to the not-limited:

I'm going to make a note of some tri puzzles which you can buy on AmiAmi. The real kicker is the second one (the one I'm linking to) with the Adventure-based tri art, located here.

Next up are these Digi-Butts, as we've fan-named them. Rubber straps with two ends featuring the Rookies. You can get them at AmiAmi (in a set only). Retail is 5054 Yen.

Next up is the tri blu-ray. I'm only covering the Amazon Exclusive Edition as it has the slipcover and cloth poster with all first pressings. It's around 8000 yen ($70 USD appx.) and will be up for order through very early December. You'll need a deputy service and a way to play Region 2 Blu-Rays. There are no english subtitles.

Can I get to my pride and joy though? This FigureArts Zero figure was announced:

The retail for this line is normally around 2800 yen, but it's unsure if the first pressing only comes with Gabumon or if it will be a little higher for including him, who knows... These are non-posable but pretty detailed. I have a height comparison with the Minato Arisato one from Persona 3 at our Facebook.

That concludes this post! Thanks for reading and good luck collecting!

10.15.15 - New magazine poster, tons of Toei webshop merch, GEM re-re-release, Gabumon UFO catcher

Since my internet is spotty, I'm a bit late to update, but hope you all enjoy it anyway.

Let me start by saying I'm leaving out some pretty cute Gabumon-relevant merch, so you may want to search Toei's Webshop and AmiAmi thoroughly.
Toei has more can badges (of course), except this time they are long! I am particularly pleased with this set, because not only is there lots of Yamato, but there's lots of characters represented, including Zero Two variants. The set retails for around $60 USD, but AmiAmi is kind enough to have preorders closer to $40. Thank you, AmiAmi, for rescuing my wallet.

On the bad news side of things, this art is reused for a new set of those damn randomized posters. You remember, the ones where you get 8 out of 16 variants randomly in a box? Ugh. Since Yamato had more than one or two in this set, I ordered 2 sets for around $55 USD, also from AmiAmi.

Also, somehow this sticker slipped through the cracks. It's still on AmiAmi, too, for around $5?

Now, I'd like to mention this cute Gabumon, at least. It's a crane prize, so check Y!JP for him:

Finally, there has been quite a bit of posters going on in various magazines. Here is the new Tri one to be released in Japan's Newtype November 2015 Issue but there are also non-poster related spreads in Animedia and HyperHobby.

Also, before this slips away, Yamato's GEM figure is getting a third release (second re-release). AmiAmi has him here.

8.28.15 - Collection update, Yamato featured in Tri plot summary, and Crest keychains released

Hey all,
any of you who preordered the crest keychain set will be looking forward to them coming in the mail soon! Unfortunetly, to obtain Yamato, you need to buy a full set of eight or hop onto auctions, but the whole set is pretty worth it. I'll post pics when I get mine with a more detailed description!
Also, in some Tri related news, (via WtW) I'm pleased to announce that the director of the series stated "I watched the first Adventure series to prepare myself and get a better grip on the characters’ personalities..." which makes me happy. However, he also talks about the kids (obviously) thinking more like high schoolers and the tribulations that come with, as well as the meanings of "tri" that will flow through the six films. I like that rewatching the series will reveal different connections... but I become more worried about a crappy love triangle plot with each passing minute.
To get away from that horrible feeling, there was also a small summary in the magazine scan that talked about Yamato, slightly:
"Taichi works up a sweat at soccer club while worrying about what to do for his future. Yamato gets ready to perform a live concert. Each of them live out their ordinary lives in their individual places, but mysterious events begin to occur throughout town. Then one day, when they look up at the Odaiba sky, they see…" (Translation by Onkei)
This ties into more of what the Tri. director said about portraying Taichi and Yamato's friendship and how their different interests parted them, but when they see each other all those old feelings come back.
Next, I have a tiny collection update thanks to my fellow Yamato collector, Em.
This washcloth is apparently some sort of UK exclusive. I've been after it awhile!

Next up is this beanie. Another unique item that's apparently official US merchandise.. At least Yamato's hair isn't flipped. Not the best quality, obviously.

Finally, I recieved my Animedia poster from the seller on Ebay (yellowmagic) I always go to (the first poster featuring Tri. artwork). I don't have a frame yet, but it's the same size as previously mentioned Otomedia posters, so at least I won't have to worry about any size differences. Notable things about Yamato include that he is holding his original digivice. Aside several re-released merchandise Digivices, including Yamato's signature blue one, this is some of the first Tri. media showing the original Digivice (maybe outside the trailers. It's been too long since I've watched them).

As always, I love to hear how your collections (even if they aren't Yamato related) are going! I'm happy to link your site in my Links section, so feel free to leave a comment or drop me an email!
I'll update again once I get my deputy package, in October/December, unless other noteworthy stuff comes up (well, duh Tri will be out by then... so, check back)!

7.29.15 - DigiFes 2015 Merchandise UPDATE

Okay, this is the largest update I'll probably make until tri comes out. Prepare your wallets. (Note: I'm only including Yamato-relevant merchandise in this news update as well as only "new" merchandise, as a lot of things were already out.)

Let me start off by saying these are the items already released that will be sold at the DigiFes Event:
Digimon Calendar ($10), 2-Sided Circle Rubber Straps ($5 each), Can Badge Set (the previously Hobby exclusive one w/the shiny variants) ($3 each), the rubber strap set with the Piedmon keychain variants ($5 each), the randomized poster sets ($43 nabs you a set of 8), the clear file set that's been on the website awhile ($30 for the set).

There are also items like shirts, lights, fans, towels ect. featuring the "DigiFes 2015" logo, which I didn't include here. Also, some oddities include a Taichi jacket and a "Tool Box" of some sort. There's other items which feature all the kids/Digimon (including a tri specific clear file), but I don't feel them worthy enough to include on my Yamato specific blog. Here is the link for those interested: http://digimon-adventure.net/fes/goods.html

These are the NEW items being sold at the DigiFes Event:

Digimon Cap (I dubbed it the "Taito" cap) in two variants, here is one of them. It retails for $30.
Digimon Button Set ($7)
Digimon POP Acrylic Standee ($15) - Omegamon/Omnimon also availible. I just don't collect him.
Digimon POP Acrylic Standee ($7 a peice, but unknown if its only sold as a set of 8?)
Yet another can badge. That word is forever ground into my brain. ($5 each)
These appear to be Bromide Cards. This one is actually Takeru-centered, but they only showed Mimi, joe, Takeru, and Hikari.... ? ($5 each)
Acrylic Square Strap ($7)
Acyrlic Pin (?) ($6 each, unknown if only sold in a set)
Acrylic MULTI Standee (No idea why it's multi...) ($15)

Any items not sold out will be "made availible" after the event. I'm guessing like last year, they'll be up on Toei Webshop/PB within fourty-eight hours.

Whew! My exchange rate is a bit high, but I'm estimating (assuming I don't have to spend $40 for sets of eight) I'll be spending just shy of $100 USD (and that's if everything is availible on the webshop... markup on Y!JP sucks. I paid $40 for one can badge last year)!

3.27.15 - A few more small updates

Added:
  • Otomedia Poster #3
  • Gabumon Wash Mitt
  • Yamato Memorial Swing Keychain

Also working on a "how to shop for" page.
